The Ascension Parish family is one that relies on the gifts of our community to provide a high level of service to its parishioners. If you would like to become involved in one of our many ministries, events or Boards, please contact the Parish Center office.
We thank you for your commitment to our community!
Proclaiming the Word of God: Lector
Are you a person who enjoys the Scriptures? Have you enjoyed reading out loud to others, whether at home or as part of a volunteer or professional position?
A lector has a very important role in the Eucharistic liturgy. Giving voice to the Word of God provides a unique opportunity to open one’s self to the action of the Holy Spirit in having the Word come alive for the Assembly.
We have many wonderful lectors here at Ascension, but we are always looking for additional people who are interested in offering their gifts to the Parish through service. If you think being a Lector is a ministry you might be interested in, please contact Jim Wojcik at the parish office. An introductory information and training session, led by Mary Catherine Meek, will be held on April 28 at 10 AM.
Sharing the Body and Blood of Christ: Extraordinary Ministers of Communion
We are currently seeking and always eager to welcome new ministers of communion to serve at the altar each Sunday.
Ministers of Communion share in a very important role in the Eucharistic liturgy. At each celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic ministers assist with sharing in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow brothers and sisters in the assembly.
Some of our parishioners even receive special training to take the Eucharist to the sick and homebound of our parish as Ministers of Care.
We have many wonderful Eucharistic Ministers here at Ascension, but we are always looking for additional people who are interested in offering their gifts to the Parish through service. If you think being a Minister of Holy communion is a ministry you might be interested in, please contact Jim Wojcik at the parish office. An introductory formation and training session, led by David Anderson, will be held on April 28 at 10 AM.
We would also strongly encourage married couples, especially those with younger children, to consider being trained together and serve individually at Masses where you attend and participate at Mass as a family.
Join us as we give witness to the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, God’s Word proclaimed and in our brothers and sisters!
