Children's Lenten Project 2017 Update with Trees that Feed Foundation

Do you recall Children’s Lenten Project 2017?  Inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’ – Care for our Common Home, we challenged ourselves to fast differently, fast from mindless consumption of the earth’s resources by using the Carbon Fast Calendar of Ideas and our alms went to support the work of the  Trees That Feed Foundation.

Their mission is to plant food-bearing trees, to feed people, create jobs, and benefit the environment.

Our goal was to purchase 466 bread fruit trees which would be planted and cared for by farmers in and around the city of Jeremie, Haiti.  Our second goal was to purchase and donate bread fruit porridge to be served at schools in the area. We reached our alms goal, and donated $10,000 to TTFF!!

Have you ever wondered how things are actually going?  Have they planted all the trees? How many are still alive? Are the trees producing fruit yet?  Please bring the family to the Pine Room and find out!

The founders of TTFF - Mary and Mike McLaughlin, will be giving us an update on the fruits of our fast on Sunday, November 4, 10:10 am – 10:55 am in the Pine Room.  Come with questions and leave with hope in your heart.
