Ascension Catholic School is located in beautiful Oak Park, Illinois. Founded by the Archdiocese of Chicago and originally staffed by Ursuline sisters, the cornerstone of Ascension was set in place in 1912, but renovations and remodeling over the last six years have made Ascension a state of the art school. With updated windows, lighting, plumbing, flooring, ceilings, and decorating throughout, the School looks new.

Less visible are renovations that make the school technologically current: Internet cabling in all classrooms, classroom computers and a full computer lab, and access to tablets for each student.

We have classes for children who are 3 years old, 4 years old and a multi-age class in Early childhood. Our kindergarten is full day, and we have 2 classrooms for every grade 1 - 8. A vibrant extended day program is available for parents who need before- and after-school care.

Like many other schools, the day begins at 8 AM and ends at 3 PM. However, Ascension has a significant number of extracurricular programs including two choirs, a band and strings program, three major sports, Student Council, a drama club, and an art club. Additionally, the local park district and several scouting groups use the parish buildings for meetings and activities after school hours.

Our alumni excel at the private and public high schools from around the Chicagoland area - including Oak Park/River Forest High School, Fenwick, Trinity, St. Ignatius, and St. Patrick.  Hear from a few of our alumni about their Ascension experience!
