St. Luke the Evangelist was a Greek physician and follower of St. Paul. He is the patron saints of physicians, surgeons, artists,students, and bachelors. As one of the four evangelists, his symbol is an ox or bull. Do you see the small winged bull in the corner of the picture? Take a look at Ascension's ambo, too. The mosaic of Jesus is surrounded by four stone carvings; can you find the bull of St. Luke? Ascension school will celebrate St. Luke at a special 9:30 Mass on Wednesday, October 18 — St. Luke's feast day.
Save the date for this year's Ascension Blue Tie Auction—Saturday, November 18. Maureen and Walter Healy will be the honorees at this year's fabulous Blue Tie Auction. The Healy's have been Ascension friends and boosters for many years, and we are proud to have them and their family and friends as guests of honor.
On Friday, September 22, teachers, instructional aides, office staff and Extended Day Program staff attended a very important training session. CPR/AED training is a classroom,video-based, instruction-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult and child.
