February 14-21 was an extremely busy week at Ascension! Starting off with Valentine's Day, we had a wonderful Mission Day prayer service, followed by a very exciting Mission Day itself. Green Club met and as usual our classrooms were active with curriculum subjects, specials and STEM projects!

The Kathy Adams Run-a-Thon is the number one way that students can help their school! This year, we have partnered with OneCause to help reach even more friends and family members to help our students reach their goals. All students will have individual fundraising goals, as well as goals and challenges with their homeroom!

On Friday, February 1  we are back in school and wearing mismatched clothing and crazy hair! Ascension School students can show their silly side and wear mismatched clothing. Students must follow the out-of-uniform day guidelines in the Ascension Handbook (NO hair dye, hair coloring spray, hats, face make up etc.)

Due to the forecast for dangerously cold temperatures, the Parish Office will close today, Tuesday, January 29 at 4:00 pm and will remain closed through Wednesday, January 30. The Parish Center will reopen Thursday, January 31 at 8:00 am. All evening meetings for January 29 and 30 have been cancelled. Ascension School classes and after school programs will be cancelled for Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st.

The exciting final rounds of the Geography Bee were held on Tuesday, the morning of Superhero day of Catholic Schools week. From a large team of semifinalists, the roster shrunk to ten and then to three. And then there was one-- Champion 4th grader Anthony! Congratulations to Anthony and all participants, and tremendous thanks to Mr. Sengstock and his team for running this annual event.

The Lady Chargers played the championship games on Saturday at Fenwick.  The fifth grade won their game yesterday and so did the seventh grade. 
Final standings were::
5- 1st, 6- 2nd,  7-3rd, 8- 2nd. Congratulations, players and coaches!

In December of 2018 over 60 students took the preliminary National Geography Test; over 30 students qualified to compete in Round one of the Bee. Moderator Mr. Sengstock organzed the students and explained the rules of each round. Six rounds were competed! Join us on Tuesday, January 29 at 4th period for the elimination round, which culls the field to 10 Semi-finalists. Then Round 2 will determine Ascension's Champion!
