February 14-21 was an extremely busy week at Ascension! Starting off with Valentine's Day, we had a wonderful Mission Day prayer service, followed by a very exciting Mission Day itself. Green Club met and as usual our classrooms were active with curriculum subjects, specials and STEM projects!

Mission Day formally began at the 9:00 Prayer Service today, February 15. We were happy to welcome Mr. Mark Jacobs, who explained his connection to Rwanda. and the His Chase Foundation, which will benefit from today's Mission Day. Along with our regular educational activities, students are celebrating African American History Month. Through Dr. Martin Luther King we are  learning ways of peace and love. We also are discovering noteworthy African Americans of the past and present. After Chinese New Year it's almost Valentine's Day!

The Polar Vortex kept us home for two days, but before and since we have been active and engaged learners with so much to be proud of! Mrs. Kane's class investigated the reasons for the super-cold weather and we were back in school for three spirited volleyball games while wearing crazy clothes and hair! PK-4 also celebrated 101 Days of School!

The Family Service Project Day in the school gym on Saturday February 2nd finished off Catholic Schools week. From 1:30-3:30 families came together to assemble care packages and Valentine's day cards for our local chapter of Meals On Wheels, the Hines Veterans' Administration Hospital and residents of the Ronald McDonald House at Loyola Hospital! Many thanks to Home & School and to Cheryl Bernard  for the pictures in our Gallery!

Our intrepid faculty and staff won the first game 25 to 21, but sadly were vanquished by the spirited 8th grade players in the next two games. What a great afternoon! Be sure to follow the action in the Gallery!
