Ascension students were extremely generous today, donating non-perishable food items for the St. Martin's Food Pantry. Grade 4 did an outstanding job providing leadership in readings and intercessions. Student Council managed the collection, boxed the items and helped with delivery to the pantry.  See our Gallery and a video.

Our Amazing Blue Tie Auction took place on Saturday, November 17 in the school gym. Wonderfully displayed items received plenty of attention from guests who were happy to bid! A delicious dinner was served, courtesy of Chef Vogel, and then the live auction began. A highlight of the evening was the Auction Video, encouraging our guests to fund Ascension's Mission with STEM curricula during the next year. Alumni John Pollard described his incredible parents, this year's honorees Jill and Chip Pollard. Enjoy our pictures and the 2018 Paddle Raise Auction video!

In honor of Veteran's Day this week, Ascension Student Council members are selling lollipops on Thursday and Friday. The suggested donation is $1, but they ask students and staff to be generous, as the proceeds will go to an organization helping veterans. Well done, Student Council!

Ascension classrooms and families will once again have the opportunity to help those in need at Christmas time. Christmas Angels provide gifts, gift card and food gift cards to local families and seniors. Homeroom teachers will provide guidance for their children, and families may also take a Christmas Angel after masses on November 10 and November 11. Angel gift drop-off will be on Friday, December 7 between 4:00 and 8:00 PM in the school gym. Be an angel this Christmas!

This afternoon the school community gathered to learn about our sharing parish, St. Martin de Porres and specifically about the Food Pantry we support. The Pantry's director explained the importance of our donations of non-perishable items, and how much recipients value the fresh produce our parish supplies. Each one of us can be of service to the hungry and those in need. Fr. Hutmacher led us in prayer and the  School Cantors led in song.  The empty boxes around the altar were soon filled!

Have you been able to provide a meal for your child today?  Data shows 1 in 5 children in our community struggle with hunger.  Help us collect enough food items to fill every seat in Soldier Field twice and provide more than 103,335 meals to Chicagoans in need.  Join the SOUP-ER Stadium Challenge!
