Although this is my first year working with Ascension’s third graders, I taught fifth grade at Ascension from 2013-2018. In 2010, I received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Dominican University. During my teaching program, I worked as a substitute teacher at Ascension, and between 2000 and 2010, I taught 4th grade religious education in Ms. Rafa’s room (now part of the Library Resource Center!). Before teaching at Ascension, I was the third grade teacher at St. Edmunds for four years. In addition to my roles as teacher and religious education catechist, I have been an Ascension parishioner for over 20 years. Teaching is a second career for me. Before enrolling at Dominican, I worked as an attorney, primarily in corporate and intellectual property law. I earned my law degree from Northwestern and a B.A. in English at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
My goal is to create a caring, productive, research-based, and highly engaging learning environment for all students.
