Right now in Language Arts:  Students in 6th are reading Maniac Magee for main idea, details, and figurative language.  In Vocabulary, they are working on Unit 1, with 5 words a week, using synonyms, antonyms, and fill in the blanks to internalize the meanings. They are also working on Greek Root words and their meanings.  In Reading, they are working on diagrams, charts and graphs to be used for comprehension of the material.  In Grammar, they are working on parts of speech, and in Writing, students are learning how to write an effective essay, and note taking skills.    

Religion is taught every day, and on Mondays, we go to Mass at 8:15 a.m. Parents are welcome to join us!angel

Students in 7th grade are reading the Crucible for main idea, detail, and understanding an allegory relating to the McCarthyism Trials.  In Vocabulary, they are working on Unit 1, with 5 words a week, using synonyms, antonyms, and fill in the blanks to internalize the meanings. They are also reviewing the Greek and Latin Root words and meanings. In Nonfiction Reading, they are reviewing diagrams, and working on charts and line graphs to be used in comprehension of the material.  In Grammar, they are reviewing parts of speech, and in writing, they are working on personal narratives, as well as note taking.
